Baby Boy Keepsake

Well its October already and not long now til my big 30! Its really windy and wintery outside today and I feel like putting the heating on and curling up on the sofa! but I can't, I'm taking my little boy to mums and tots this afternoon. My mum's neighbours had a little boy on Monday, and as well as giving them a card I wanted to give them a little keepsake. I used the idea that I had originally used when my friends had their twins back in April last year.I made the little concertina card in 3 sections and just layered on some white hammered card and then I rounded all the corners. I then added a couple of pictures downloaded from the internet and some baby blue satin ribbon and a few blue adhesive stones. I printed off the birth details onto co-ordinating doodlebug card and then cut out. I cut "J" using my sizzix alpahbet and mounted it onto a punched circle.
And to keep it in, I made a little wallett/envelope from vellum, using my scoreboard. It was so simple to make and I think its really effective. I think I've about mastered the art of tying nice bows at long last!

Happy Birthday Hubby!

Well today is my Husband's Birthday! and here are a couple of the cards that i made for him. I made one card which I really didnt like after I'd done it, so decided to start again with something completely different. I've seen this style of card a few times before and always liked the look of them so thought I'd give it a go.I think the papers were downloaded from Summer Driggs. They are lovely Limes, Greys and Blacks which I think all work together really well.I printed the sentiment from the pc and just layered it into the little mini card/folder stuck to the front of the card. I really like this and its definately a layout I'll be using again!
And finally, I made this one for my little boy to give to his Daddy. We are keen mini enthusiasts ( the original ones, not those bmw ones!) and as I have a mini stamp, I thought I'd base the card on the Italian Job.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY IAN!

I am still here...

Hi everybody, I am still here and I would just like to thank you all for the lovely messages that you have left regarding my earlier post. They are all very much appreciated. Thank you! I've not had much enthusiasm for blogging recently but thought I'd have a go at catching up today! First of all thanks to Cass and to Vicki for passing this award onto me! Everybody already seems to have this one though so I wont pass it on again, but if you visit my blog and haven't got this award, then take it!

I've made a start on a few of my Christmas cards. Not atall like me to be making Christmas cards this early on it the year, but I've made so many other cards recently, its a nice change. I've been looking over other peoples blogs and on docrafts at the amount of Christmas cards already and thinking are they mad? I dont tend to make a lot of Christmas cards, just the special ones.

It's my husbands birthday tomorrow! so I'll have some cards to upload then, but as he now reads my blog they will have to wait another day!

I do have a couple of bits I can show you though. I have made another candle on request as a Christmas present. I have used a stamped image of a Poinsettia but I printed the sentiments from the PC onto tissue paper. I decided that although making boxes is a really nice touch, it would just be a lot easier to put the candles into a nice little organza gift bag, which I've managed to find on the internet, and I think it looks lovely.

And finally, Williams funeral will not be until this Friday (26th) so I decided to make a little poem card to put on his flowers. I love this little teddy. I did a google search for the teddy and I found this, I think he's perfect. I just printed off the basic shape of the head and drew on the face. I then drew and cut out the feet and paws. I printed my little poem onto some blue card and then cut that into a heart shape and positioned all the pieces before sticking them down. I've since laminated it so hopefully the rain won't spoil it.Well thats all for now, I'm going to try and tackle a huge pile of ironing and maybe later I'll get back on to check up on some of your blogs!

Not a good week....

Hello everybody, well as the title says, its not been a good week here. On Wednesday morning we received a phone call from our best friends to tell us that one of their 15 month old twins had died in his sleep. He was actually our godson. This has come as a massive shock to us all and we are all deeply upset especially as it happened only days after the 2nd anniversary of us losing our own precious little girl, Rebecca.

Sleep tight William, have fun playing with Rebecca xxx

So i've done what I do at times like this, and thrown myself into my card making. I have lots of family birthdays coming up in the next couple of months and I've had lots of orders too. I've made another cande, card and box for a lady's 60th Birthday and I'm really pleased with it. I'm sure she'll love it. I have used Kerry's tip of printing directly onto the tissue paper and decided to use a pink petticoat image instead of a stamped image. For the same lady, I was asked to make a card from her best friend. She loves Wimbledon and Cliff Richard for some reason! Personally I cant stand him but each to their own. Anyway I found an image of him on the internet and decided to greyscale the image so I could put some more feminie colours with it.
And finally, this one was a bit of a challenge. The breif was, "its for my son's 40th birthday and he likes Indian curry's and drinking beer". I couldnt find anything embellishments for a curry funnily enough! and whilst doing an google image search I found a temple image which I thought might be somewhere to start. I dont like this card, its certainly not one of my best, but it is what she asked for!
It was my 5th Wedding Anniversary on Saturday 6th, and this is the card I made for my husband. I've used a pink petticoat image and have embossed it with a gold tinsel embossing powder, the only time i've ever used it! but was really pleased with how it sparkles!

Baby Elephants

I came up with the idea for these cards when I was browsing back through some of my old cards. I bought the Cuttlebug animals set when I was in America last year and I think I've only ever used them once. I began by making up a few toppers and it was only when I put the colours together I thought that they'd make lovely images for a new baby card. The coloured card used is doodlebug crisscross. The wording is cut out using my Naturally Serif sizzix alphabet, one of those long ones!
I've managed to quite sucessfully tie a couple of nice bows, using a grey organza ribbon.

Its been a while since I've used my bigshot for anything other than my nestabilities and embossing folders, so it made a nice change. These dies are really lovely and I've made some toppers up ready to make cards with using the other animals in the set. They were a bit fiddly though and were quite time consuming as was cutting out the lettering. I really love the end result though so it was well worth it.
